RULES AND REGULATIONS

Before issuing or displaying any print work make sure it meets the rules and regulations in your country.

Direct marketing and advertising are regulated by voluntary codes and legislation which aim to ensure that marketing is fair, ethical and honest. They are also subject to data protection legislation which gives the people you are targeting the right to know who you are and how you will use any information gathered about them.

Voluntary codes and laws will vary country by country and are periodically updated. To get the most current and accurate information you should check with your local advertising or direct marketing authorities.
Regulation Check List

1. Ask yourself if your marketing materials could be seen as:

Offensive?
Slanderous?
Untrue or misleading?
Promoting unfair competition?
Plagiarism or copying?
Inappropriate targeting of vulnerable audiences such as children?

2. Consider the copyright issues.

Do you have a current agreement which allows you to use the images and copy in the printwork?
Do you have a copyright agreement to use images and copy for this purpose?
Have you secured permission to use any quotes or names featured in the print work?

3. Consider the implications of data protection.

Have you been clear about who you are and how you will use any information you receive about the customer?
Have you allowed your customer to `opt out' of receiving additional information from you or third parties?

4. Finally - Have you checked you meet the laws and codes of conduct set down by your local direct marketing and advertising associations?
